Sommelier is a decentralized protocol that empowers community members to automate DeFi investment management in an atomized and independent manner. Community members can create Cellars that execute on an investment strategy through smart contracts. Cellars are powered by data feed providers who send market data to the Cellar to produce yield. Both Cellar creators and data feed providers will receive fees based on the yield generated by their respective Cellars.
The unique value of the Sommelier protocol is that the Sommelier stack, in a non-custodial way, can update the Cellar position and in effect manage the user funds based on live-market data. In this sense, Cellars are dynamic vaults which allow for mid-frequency trading strategies, as opposed to other platforms where their strategies are static (zero-frequency) and cannot take live market data as input.
Sommelier is a DeFi blockchain protocol, built on the Cosmos SDK, and a bi-directional Ethereum bridge. Taken together, this collection serves as a co-processor to Ethereum - that is we are using a Cosmos chain to process as many of the calculations as possible off Ethereum.
$SOMM is the token that underlies all transactions on the Sommelier protocol. It captures the fee revenue that is generated by the system and incentivizes each role in the ecosystem to continue performing their function and participate in protocol governance.
