Australian Watchdog Sues Meta Over False Crypto Advertising Campaign

Australia's competition watchdog said Friday that it has begun a lawsuit against Facebook owner Meta. Alleging that the social media company engaged in false or misleading cryptocurrency advertising in the country, Meta posted ads featuring "well-known Australian public figures" promoting cryptocurrency investments or money-making schemes. The regulator is seeking declarations, injunctions, penalties, costs and other orders.
