Binance Asks US Court Again to Dismiss Charges from CFTC

As reported by CoinDesk, Binance submitted a filing to an Illinois court on Monday evening, asking for the dismissal of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission's (CFTC) charges against the exchange.

Binance said that CFTC's lawsuit against Binance was trying to "regulate any activity in cryptocurrency (or other assets) related to a derivatives product anywhere on the globe". "US law governs domestically but does not control the world. Congress did not make the CFTC the world's derivatives police," Binance's filing said.

In March, the CFTC filed a civil enforcement action against CZ and three Binance entities for multiple violations of the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA) and CFTC regulations. Then in July, Binance and CZ filed a motion to the US court, asking to dismiss the charges which they argued were beyond CFTC's jurisdiction.
