Monthly Web3 Developers Decrease by 22%, but Long-Term Contributors Show Resilience

According to developer report, there are 21.3K monthly active open source developers in the crypto industry. However, this number reflects a -22% decrease compared to the same period last year, indicating a decline in developer engagement.

The recent decrease can be attributed to the departure of newcomers who joined the crypto space within the past 12 months and were responsible for less than 20% of all code commits.

In contrast, developers with 12 months or more of experience in crypto continue to make significant contributions, accounting for over 80% of all code commits.

Despite the decline in developer numbers over the past year, the current figure of 21.3K monthly active developers is still higher than the count before the crypto markets reached an all-time high in November 2021.
