The Optimism Foundation released a proposal regarding upgrading the Optimism mainnet to Bedrock. The proposal will be discussed in the forum for two weeks, before the community starts voting for it.
Bedrock is a new generation of decentralized Rollup architecture developed by OP Labs, which aims to offer modularity, simplicity, and Ethereum equivalence for Layer2 solutions. Bedrock implements a modular architecture, separating the OP Stack into 3 components, consensus, execution, and settlement. It will enable performance improvements, including transaction costs, throughput characteristics, and sync speeds.
Previously, the Optimism Goerli testnet was upgraded to Bedrock, and according to the Optimism Foundation, it had no significant setbacks.
If the Optimism community is in favor of the upgrade, it will be scheduled for execution two weeks after the vote passes on March 15th at 9am, PST. The upgrade will take around four hours.
According to TokenInsight data, the price of $OP went up by 28.51% over the last 24 hours, trading at $2.7732 now.
