What Happened on June. 12th | A Big Week Ahead
Last week, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) asked the court to issue a temporary restraining order to freeze assets related to Binance.US. There are two important points in time regarding the SEC's proceedings against Binance US:
- The deadline for Binance and Binance.US to respond to the SEC's application for a temporary restraining order "freezing assets" is 12 June;
- The hearing on the restraining order is scheduled for 13 June at 2:00 pm ET.
Meanwhile, last week the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit has ordered the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to clarify its position on a rulemaking petition filed by cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase within seven days.
In April, Coinbase filed an Administrative Procedure Act challenge asking the court to force the SEC to respond by having the regulator respond to its 2022 petition for formal rulemaking in the digital asset space, arguing that existing requirements are not appropriate for digital assets.
