How to Use zkSync

This article is a hands-on guide on setting up zkSync Era in your wallet and bridging funds to zkSync Era, two necessary steps you must complete before you can start exploring what zkSync has to offer.

Add zkSync to Wallet

There are two ways to add zkSync to your wallet.

The first and easier way is via Chainlist. Chainlist is a comprehensive list of EVM networks that collects all verified RPC endpoints and allows users to add any network to their wallet. In addition to adding zkSync, Chainlist allows you to switch between RPC endpoints easily if a network is busy, which is very handy.

Step 1: Go to Chainlist main page and search for zkSync Era or click this zkSync link directly.

Step 2: Click connect wallet.

Step 3: Approve the addition in your wallet.

The second way is adding it manually.

Step 1: Click the Network in your MetaMask.

Step 2: Click "Add Network."

Step 3: In the pop-up window, click "add a network manually."

Step 4: Put in the following information to add zkSync.

Network Name: zkSync Era Mainnet

RPC URL: https://mainnet.era.zksync.io

Chain ID: 324

Currency Symbol: ETH

Block Explorer URL: https://explorer.zksync.io/

Bridge to zkSync

You can use the official bridge or Orbiter Finance to bridge funds to zkSync.

Official Bridge

Step 1: Open the official bridge homepage.

Step 2: Connect your wallet.

Step 3: Select the amount and then deposit.

Unfortunately, the official bridge only allows you to bridge from Ethereum mainnet to zkSync Era.

Orbiter Finance

Orbiter Finance is one of the most used bridges for rollups, which include zkSync, Arbitrum, etc. Bridging to zkSync from Arbitrum is much cheaper than from Ethereum mainnet. The platform has been live for over a year, which means the smart contracts are battle-tested and reliable.

Step 1: Open the Orbiter Finance homepage.

Step 2: Connect your wallet, select the chain from which you will send funds, and then select zkSync as the destination. Then send.

Orbiter Finance has not yet released a token but has hinted at it. So we recommend you use Orbiter Finance to bridge funds, which makes you eligible for a potential airdrop from not only zkSync but also Orbiter Finance.
